Come along to a screen print session in the Particle Press studio.
This hands on workshop will be an introduction to screen printing, where we will explore different ways to create stencils, with a strong focus on natural objects. We will use plants/leaves to draw from, as well as expose directly on to a screen, using a light sensitive emulsion.
If it is dry, we will have a walk around the garden and fields to collect up leaves and plants, which we will then use to create our art. If it is raining and very wet, I will collect lots of materials for us to work from in advance.
We will then create our artwork in preparation for printing in the afternoon session. In this workshop, we will be printing on to pre folded card. You will never need to buy a birthday or Christmas card again!
We will spend the afternoon printing and mixing colours, and I will teach you how to overlay your images, to build up layers on your prints.
This workshop is great for beginners who want to try out a new process, and I will guide you through this fun, and exploratory process. Course places are limited to 3 people so that you have room to work and access to me, to help you get the best possible results. You will leave the day with a selection of cards/prints to take home.
Where is the studio?
My studio is about 10 minutes outside Falmouth, towards the village of Constantine. Full directions will be sent to you in advance of the workshop.
Who will I be taught by?
You will be learning from me - Fiona Leighton. I have been working in printmaking for over 20 years, and still get excited when I pull the first print through the screen! It is a joy to share my knowledge and techniques, in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. I believe everyone can be creative, and you do not need to be able to draw
